Canadian Information Processing
Society (CIPS) In September of 1958, a dedicated
group of data processors got together to talk about
their common concerns. That conference demonstrated
to participants the value of sharing ideas, networking
with fellow professionals, and learning about coming
changes in the technology, practices, and management
of information systems. Thus began the Canadian Information
Processing Society, whose mission statement is “to
provide leadership in information systems and technologies
by developing and promoting quality standards and
practices, research, certification, and professional
development while safeguarding the public interest”.
