Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS) In September of 1958, a dedicated group of data processors got together to talk about their common concerns. That conference demonstrated to participants the value of sharing ideas, networking with fellow professionals, and learning about coming changes in the technology, practices, and management of information systems. Thus began the Canadian Information Processing Society, whose mission statement is “to provide leadership in information systems and technologies by developing and promoting quality standards and practices, research, certification, and professional development while safeguarding the public interest”.
